In case of crack, folding, forging injury, interlayer, scab, slag inclusion and other defects on the forging surface, the following provisions shall be followed.

When the defect depth of the forging surface to be machined is checked and confirmed to ensure that more than 50% of the machining allowance can be reserved, it is allowed not to be removed, but it shall be approved by the user.

For the forging surface that is no longer machined, the maximum depth of the repaired part shall not exceed the lower deviation of the dimension, and the repaired part must be smooth.

When the surface defect depth of die forgings exceeds the machining allowance, the user's consent must be obtained if repair welding is required. After the defects are completely removed, repair welding shall be carried out according to appropriate repair welding procedures, and the quality of repair welding shall meet the user's requirements for forgings.

Whether the forging surface should be cleaned and the cleaning method shall be agreed by the user and the manufacturing unit when ordering.

The manufacturer shall ensure that there are no white spots on the forgings. When a white spot is found on a forging, the whole batch of forgings with the same furnace of steel and heat treatment in the same furnace shall be subject to white spot inspection one by one.
